I spent this past weekend completely immersed in the world of books, which, for a woman who spends most of her time watching Yo Gabba Gabba with two toddlers and trying not to stab herself in the eye with a pencil, was pretty awesome.
I felt like a freshman on the first day of class, but I met some wonderful people who helped me feel more comfortable. I managed not to puke on anyone, and more importantly, on any agents.
Some of the highlights of the weekend:
-Jane Friedman, industry expert and my favorite blogger ever, gave an excellent presentation about the future of books and publishing. Guess what? People still love to read!
-Joseph Veltre’s pants
-Watching the shark tank that is the cocktail party.
-When Susan Schulman asked me not to run her over with my car.
Now I’m shutting myself in my little cave and making sure my manuscript looks impeccable. If I learned anything this weekend, it’s to not send anything before it’s ready. Shout out to the WLT for an awesome conference. You guys rock.
